Bivouac Camp: Live the Authentic Bedouin Experience in Wadi Rum

The crisp desert air fills your lungs as the first light of sunrise illuminates the towering sandstone mountains of Wadi Rum. Spending the night in a natural rock shelter, or ‘cave,’ offers a rare chance to experience the desert just as the Bedouins have for centuries.
How Bivouac Camping Works
After a full day of exploration, we will take you to our designated ‘cave’—a naturally sheltered rock formation that provides protection from the sun, wind, and occasional rain. In addition to this primary location, we have several other handpicked spots for temporary camping, and the exact site will depend on your tour itinerary and availability during peak seasons.
Upon arrival, we prepare a traditional Bedouin dinner cooked over an open fire. The evening is yours to enjoy—relax by the fire, listen to stories of Bedouin culture and music, or simply gaze at the dazzling stars in the night sky while soaking in the tranquility of the desert.
When it's time to sleep, we set up comfortable mattresses on a soft carpet, providing you with all the necessary sleeping gear. In the summer, you will receive a sleeping bag and sheet, while in the cooler months, we also provide a blanket and a bivouac tent for those who prefer a little extra shelter.
At sunrise, wake up to breathtaking desert views as we prepare a hearty breakfast. After breakfast, we will either continue your journey deeper into Wadi Rum or return to Rum Village, depending on your tour plan.
Important Notes About Bivouac Camping
- This is a true back-to-nature experience, meaning there are no bathroom facilities at the camping site.
- Bivouac camping is only available as part of our guided tours.
- If you wish to extend your adventure, you can add a night before or after your tour at our comfortable Wadi Rum Night Camp.
